2007 Little Book Cliffs Gather and Adoption

In mid September there were 55 horses gathered from the Little Book Cliffs Wild horse Range. That left about 102 on the range to run wild and free. Out of the 55 that were put up for adoption 41 were adopted to good homes, which left 14 to go to Canon City. No doubt it won't be long before they are adopted from there also. All in all the gather and adoption was a success. And we have had some much needed rains and the weather has been good so there is grass coming up on the range for all the horses that are left up there, so they should all winter well.

Friends of the Mustangs would like to thank all that came to the adoption and adopted a horse. And even those who just came to see all the horses. We had people as far as Wisconsin come and adopt a couple of the grulla horses.

If you are an adopter and have questions please feel free to contact us and we will do what we can to assist you.

Since the adoption in Sept. there have been 2 parades of horses. This is where we go around to some of the adopted horses homes and see how they are coming along. We are pleased to announce, that all we have gone to see are coming along well in their training and not so wild lives, also on the last parade of horses (#2), the people that went got to see all the babies that were born since being adopted and let me tell you there are some cuties. The funny thing about the babies being born from the adopted horse is that at least 2 were born on special days, such as one on Valentine's Day, one on St. Patrick's Day, there was 1 tri colored paint born to one of the mares that was adopted. Over in Canon City one of the mares that went there after the adoption foaled on Feb. 29th making it a leap year baby. So all in all 2007 was a great year for the wild horses both still running free and the ones adpoted.
